Monte doesn’t consider himself an “animal lover” or anything like that (he has to do stuff like experiment on animals etc.) but he is quite good with animals. Maybe they find him nonthreatening? Who knows.

another character design that i thought of while trying to sleep name is Ys
another one of those design ideas that popped up while trying to sleep, though the original idea was quite a bit different than this. original had more of a housefly motif but it didnt mesh as well as i wanted to.
