Screencaps and Alt Music
Tina Turner - We Don’t Need Another Hero.Refreshed all my Mad Max so i’ll be as ready as i can be when i am able to go see the new one. Anyway, this song is awesome, and Tina Turner is a goddess so i thought i would share
David Lynch - The Big Dream (Venetian Snares remix). This is a great song, and this remix is incredible. I always queue it up at the end of the album when i listen to it. It’s a lot different than the original version, but in a wonderful way.
Le Galaxie - Humanise.Never heard of this band before, but a Magic card i bought from someone in Ireland had a promo thing for them in the envelope, so i thought i would take a look. Not bad at all! Some of it’s a little too light and upbeat for me,
Revolting Cocks - Dead End Streets. This doesn’t really sound much like RevCo that i know (more than a decade between this and their previous album will do that i guess, also Jello Biafra singing on this track!) but it’s awesome nonetheless
Arcturus - For to End Yet Again.I’m surprised i never found this stuff before, since i’ve been a fan of Ulver for years, and its mastermind, Kristoffer Rygg was the vocalist in this band. (He left after this album though) But anyway, this stuff is
The Howling Void - Shadows Over the Cosmos. It’s been a while since i’ve listened to the absolute majesty that is this album, and this title track in particular. God… playing this loud is unbelievable… it’s so vast
Lard - Can God Fill Teeth?.Ughgh, Lard is so awesome, haha. It’s like… a bunch of the guys from Ministry with Jello Biafra singing, and that imho, is pretty amazing.
Bjork - Arabadrengurinn.12 year old Bjork sounds adorable, and this song is pretty good
Tyranny - Drown.SIGH yeah i know i’ve blonged this liek two or three times before probably, but manIt is so good. One of the best, one of my favourite funeral doom pieces for sure. That part when it changes 6 minutes in and onward, ghhhhh. So crushing
Ambient: Making dubstep bearable and even possibly pleasurable
The Dead Science - Cuz She’s Me.I really like this EP, and this song is especially standoutish
ecmajor: Contrastate - Extract No. 10 . So good. I love spoken word like this… it’s like about something, but it’s disjointed and unusual… I’ll never get tired of hearing this song. Have a redux
The Desert Fathers - Pitbulls.Hadn’t heard this song in ages. I remembered it and was glad it was on youtube. It’s pretty swell :>
Archive - Controlling Crowds.Discovered this totally by accident and it’s really awesome.
Archive - Seamless / Finding It So Hard.Sounding like a broken record now, but this is really incredible and i have to blog it.(The youtube video here has the segue track included, “Seamless” which is the first 1:44 of this… then Finding It
Lizardia - Lizardia (full album).Ok, so the name and cool cover art caught my eye since i’m thinking about lizard girls right now. Hit play… at first i was like “Alright, this sound decent… not as boring as a lot of this genre. Hasn’t
ecmajor: Tyranny - Drown . SIGH yeah i know i’ve blonged this liek two or three times before probably, but man It is so good. One of the best, one of my favourite funeral doom pieces for sure. That part when it changes 6 minutes in and onward, ghhhhh.
The The - Good Morning Beautiful.I was like 16 when i first heard this, and it really blew me away. I’d never really heard anything like it. Still haven’t. It’s a magnum opus
Vulture Industries - The Hound. This song is so good UGHthis whole album is great, but yeah, damn. And i’m sure i’ve probably blogged it before but hey
Zu - Ostia.Someone pointed me to this yesterday. It’s insane and really awesome :o
Towering Inferno - Kaddish (full album). This concept album is such an interesting work. It took a couple of listens before i liked it, but now i really like it a lot. The contrast between the soft, almost nurturing parts and the harsh industrial parts
Archive - Conflict.Archive never disappoints. So much good stuff, and such variety in their sound. UGh i love it
Swans - Just A Little Boy (For Chester Burnett).I love this song so much(This whole album too really… i think it might be the best Swans album. But this song is especially eccentric and interesting)
Goldfrapp - Ocean.Oh wow, if anything else on Goldfrapp’s new album is at all like this it’s going to be awesome. (I’ve only heard the first track they’ve released, ‘Anymore’ and it’s …okay at best, but nothing quite like this)
Hecq - Night Falls / Never Leave. It’s two tracks that open the Night Falls album (i haven’t listened to the whole thing yet, but this opening bit kinda blew me away…)I need to listen to this again in my headphones so it can surround and permeate
Mansun - Wide Open Space.I’d forgotten about this song, but randomly remembered it when i was driving today. Hadn’t heard it in years, but it’s still amazingBoring anecdote of the day:I heard this song on the schoolbus when i was a teen and was
Beck - Brother.I was going through a huge pile of Beck b-sides and bonus material to see if i wanted to keep any of it (a lot of it is uh… crap, no point sugarcoating it) but this gem was in there. This song is really good ;_; Feels feelsy man
Liars - Mask Maker.I love the weird voice samples in the intro and throughout this. I wonder if they’re from something or if these guys just made them (probably the latter but you never know)EAT MY FACE OFFTAKE MY FACEGIVE ME YOUR FACE.Mess is a great
Funkadelic - Maggot Brain (Live at Meadowbrook 1971).Maggot Brain is an awesome song to begin with, and this 14 minute long live version is just on another plane of existence. I’m not a big fan of live recordings in general, since a lot of the time
Type O Negative - Red Water (Christmas Mourning).I meant to post this on the 25th since it’s my favourite christmas song, but it slipped my mind and time got away from me… I did at least listen to it that day on my stream playlist.“The song
Lard - Time to Melt.I’ve been listening to this song for so long and i’m going to be sad when it’s overIt’s so goodLard’s subsequent albums are far better (imo) than this one, their first, but this particular track is pretty amazing. Mellow
Killing Joke - Dawn of the Hive.I just found out KJ released an album in 2015 i was unaware of (!) And damn, it’s great so far
Kirlian Camera - Eclipse.God, i love this song. I only know about it (and Kirlian Camera) because of the remix of Eclipse that Wumpscut did, but i’m glad it eventually led me here. I just wish i’d looked up the original version of this song years
Aphrodite’s Child - The Wedding of the Lamb / The Capture of the Beast. This is one of my favourite sections of this album, and i absolutely love the transition between these two tracks; i’m glad someone posted them together.
The Electric Hellfire Club - Servants of Evol.I love a good syrupy-thick synth bassline, and i enjoy this band far too much as it is
Santigold - Rendezvous Girl. It’s tough to beat some of the songs from Santigold’s previous album but this one is quickly becoming my fave of hers i think… it’s so good, and so well put together
Aphex Twin - T69 Collapse. It’s been a long time since i’ve listened to anything new from Aphex Twin, i actually have no idea what he’s been up to for like… the past 15+ years. Happened to see this on youtube and checked it out. It’s pretty
Cubanate - Isolation. This was one of my favourite albums when i was a youngster, and it’s still pretty awesome to me. The band’s previous work is imo pretty bland, but this was their last album, on which they tried new things that made for interesting
